Message to Ranger Fans: Don’t Panic!
Here we are again. It's July and already, Glen Sather has overpaid a big name free agent by signing Marian Gaborik to a five-year deal worth $37.5 million. For those math majors out there, it averages out to a cap deadly $7.5-per-season. Predictably, many Ranger fans were at a loss for words, questioning handing out such a deal to a question mark a day after Sather unloaded cap headache Scott Gomez to Montreal that landed Chris Higgins and top prospect Ryan McDonagh. So, is it time to panic yet again in Ranger land? No. It's a little premature to start going nuts ...
Yankees Swisher Fits In Nicely
When the Yankees were searching for a replacement for the departed Jason Giambi, they were not necessarily looking for another high-priced free agent. After they did not receive the best return on their large investment in the former American League MVP, no one could blame them for going a little more conservative the next time around. That appeared to be the case when Yankees general manager Brian Cashman acquired Nick Swisher and a minor leaguer from the Chicago White Sox last November for back-up infielder Wilson Betemit and a pair of minor leaguers. The switch-hitting first baseman/outfielder was not promised the job ...
Jets Pace Suspended For Substance Abuse
The Rex Ryan era in New York has not even begun and he already has to deal with a little controversy. Calvin Pace, one of his starting linebackers, has been suspended for the first four games of the regular season for using a banned substance, which has yet to be identified. "Calvin Pace of the New York Jets has been suspended without pay for the team’s first four regular-season games of 2009 for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances," said an NFL spokesperson. "Pace's suspension begins on Saturday, September 5. He is eligible to return to the Jets’ active ...
Ducks Win in 11
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY— Come the end of the season, Johnny Hernandez's 11th inning RBI single that lead to a 4-3 win over Bridgeport Thursday night might be a footnote or a key victory that can determine a wild card berth. In the meantime, the Ducks will settle for a win after trailing 3-0 in the eighth. The Ducks scored twice in the ninth to send it to extra before Hernandez brought home John Pachot with the winning run against Jonathan Plefka (1-1). Down two runs in the ninth, Victor Rodriguez reached on a one-out error when Todd Davison bobbled the ball. Two ...
Lopez Brings Smiles To Camp
Bridgeport, CT— Luis Lopez stepped onto the dew christened field Wednesday morning with a bright smile that easily competed with the radiating sun at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. For the past three days, Lopez had tossed over 1,000 baseballs to kids ranging from the ages of 5-12 at this week’s Bridgeport Bluefish summer camp. Inside the batting cage, the veteran third baseman gave little pointers and tips on how to become a better hitter at the plate. It was nothing new for Lopez, as he has become accustomed to taking on a mentoring role throughout his 14 year professional ...

About Sports in New York
These are two franchises that have won a collective 28 World Series. Though most of those have been because of the New York Yankees, the Mets have become a respected club in its short, but celebrated history. Eventually the muggy days of summer come to an end and the brisk winds of fall mean that football season has begun.
The Giants and the Jets may only have won a total of four Super Bowls, but the hallowed history of the Giants makes sure their team looms large every season. The Jets franchise is quite a bit younger, but they have not been a bad addition to the football landscape for New Yorkers. The boys in green first made their mark in the first few years of the Super Bowl and have been major player in the AFC East, whether sports fans realize it or not.
The winter months are unbearable in New York and sports recede in large arena. The Knicks may not have a recent history that many are jealous of, but Mike D'Antoni and Donnie Walsh are working to reverse the trend of the last few seasons at Madison Square Garden. The Nets schedule will soon be coming into the city and should elevate the rivalry between the two franchises as they are most certainly fighting for the same basketball fans desperate for the high level of competition both team once displayed on a nightly basis.
The rest of the nation may have forgotten about the NHL, but this city still loves the sport that promises slap shots and bloody noses. The Rangers, Islanders, and Devils give New Yorkers three hockey teams to choose from. The Devils and the Rangers have been providing the playoff action for the last few seasons, but the Islanders are starting to move the club in a new direction.

Same Old Armando Newark, NJ – Every Met fan knew the look, the feel, and motions of this blown save. Heck, even Yankee fans had to suffer through this for a few weeks.
And now, with Armando Benitez in the Atlantic League, things haven’t changed.

New York Giants
Changes for the Giants in 2009 The loss of veteran leadership at the wide receiver spot is an issue that the Giants front office has to be concerned about. They replaced personnel through the NFL Draft by obtaining Hakeem Nicks with the 29 overall selection in the first round, and Ramses Barden with the 85th overall selection in the third round. [...]

Knicks Go Big At The Draft New York – The New York Knickerbockers and their fans were wishing and hoping as the NBA Draft moved along that their dream pick, Stephen Curry, would fall directly into their laps when the Knicks’ choice came at number eight. New Jersey Nets
The End of the Vince Carter Era, Draft ThoughtsThis trade may end up going down as one of the worst in the team’s history. However, if things work out, it could be the beginning of a new-look Nets team that will be younger, faster and better on defense than they have been in quite some time.
Why the Nets would give up their leading [...]

Benitez Blows All-Star Game as Liberty Wins, 7-5 NEWARK, NJ— Armando Benitez blew a comfortable lead during a showcase game.

The UFL Ready To Go For 2010 NEW YORK – If you had said to me three years ago that a new professional football league would start up and play games during the fall, when the NFL and College Football (not to mention High School Football) were in full swing, I would have suggested some sort of substance abuse recovery program.
